Sometimes, on my half hour walk to work, my mind starts to wonder about what fictional characters are up to these days. Like the tykes of Degrassi! Here's what I think is going on with those Canadian scamps.
Ellie: Graduated from college with that degree in journalism she wanted. She now works as a freelance online blogger or some such. Lives with Marco.
Manny: Skulking about Hollywood, trying to get acting jobs. Actually, if you look at her behavior throughout the show, it's plausible that Manny is doing LOTS of things for money for the attention of some lying male.
Marco: Probably working at Gap or Banana Republic in whatever city Ellie blogs out of. Probably New York, or Toronto.
Craig: Probably one of those acoustic Jason Mraz types, but in Canada. Make that Ryan Cabrera.
Darcy: Came back to Canada, married a pastor, but still makes out with Peter.
Peter: Works at a Groupon type dot com, makes out with Darcy.
Paige: Definitely runs 17 magazine's website. Queen Bee of her office.
Alex: Cocktail waitress.
Jane: Singing in an awesome band, probably a bartender.
That's the gist of it.
And Jimmy can walk on those awkward crutch things.
Thoughts I Think on Things I Thought Of.

50, 50 Things. Part 3: Oh Rocky!
1. The Rocky Horror (Picture) Show has a lot of meaning for me. Some of the best memories in my life surround that movie/soundtrack.
2. When/If I become a professional entertainer, I hope to be as nice and accommodating as Joan Jett.
3. I regret some of the past few years. More than I probably should.
4. I'm trying not to avoid/put off people and important life situations anymore. It's becoming a problem I'm learning from the hard way.
5. God Damn if I don't love a nice glass of white wine and pasta.
6. One of the best movies i've ever seen, only one other person I know has seen it, and probably will be the only one to ever see it. I want a ballooon....
7. My favorite year in high school was Junior year. Fucking EVERYTHING happened in those months.
8. My favorite year in college was Sophmore year. Fucking EVERYTHING happened in those months.
9. I don't plan on moving out of Chicago for the next few years. I'm selling my car, which cements that. Kinda fucking freaks me out to be honest.
10. I miss driving on a summer/spring night with the windows down blasting The Runaways.

50, 50 things. Part 2: Neon Angel on the Road To Ruin
1. Two of my favorite bands were, at one stage in their careers, teenage girls. I wonder what that says about me.
2. I love photos. Especially in physical photo album form. I seriously could look at photo albums all night long, and I have.
3. Eagle Harbor, Michigan, is one of the best treasures the United States has to offer. Those who don't think so have never been there.
4. My favorite comedy duo is Edina and Patsy.
5. I wonder if my parents knew I was gay when during my pre-teen years I obsessively listened to Mariah Carey and Spice Girls.
6. I dressed up as Batman for my birthday when I was 3. See? Right from the start.
7. I value my friends, but I don't really show it a lot. It's something I'm working on.
8. Joan Jett and Courtney Love write lyrics I can identify with more than anyone else. I wonder what that says about me.
9. Although the movie sucks, the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack is one of my favorite albums.
10. I think most male musicians suck. More on this later.

50, 50 things. Part 1: In which I go fishing with nets.
This is one of those "50 things about yourself", often found on the Facebook, or a few years ago, Myspace.
1. When life gets me down, i'm comforted by the fact that my favorite author provides me with new material every month.
2. I was going to try to sum up why I love comics so much, but Gail Simone did it for me: "The truth is, I love almost everything about comics as a medium. I love the feel, the format, even the smell of new comics is fun. I love how the short page count meant a high velocity of story-telling, you know? Bam, second page, the Joker’s murdering someone and the Batmobile is racing down the streets of Gotham. That high-energy was really something of an entertainment oddity back then, something you’d only see in imported kung fu films, which usually lacked the compelling characters and plots of comics.
And it wasn’t just superheroes...the funny comics had to be funny WHAM in the first page, the horror comics had to have the icky stuff going on by the fifth panel or so. I love all that, and I think in our rush to tell more ‘adult’ stories, we’ve gone too far in the other directions. Comics CAN tell entire issues where people just talk over coffee, but I am baffled by anyone who really wants that in a superhero comic. You can have fantastic character moments without tying an anchor to the bullet train as so many comics today seem to do.
Comics have the crazy oufits of, say, wrestling or classic opera, they have the intense long-term story elements of a daily soap, and they have the amazing fight scenes of the best action films. I adore them and I don’t apologize for them at all. The depth of the variety of material out there rivals any other medium, really. "
3. When I get nervous I hum Yellow Submarine.
4. Now that i'm living in Chicago to pursue my "dreams" (that's a whooole other blog), I'm getting very nervous about actually achieving them. Good thing my roommate has the complete Beatles discography.
5. Speaking of, I can speak from multiple experiences when I say that living with your best friend is...the best!
6. I'm one of two people from my high school clique who's not in a serious long term relationship. Most of them are married, the others have been dating for at least a year.
7. I love being single. I don't have to answer to anyone or check in, and I can mess around with as many men as will have me.
8. That being said, I might be trading it all in soon :)
9. The two people closest to me are as blonde as blonde can be.
10. I'm severely glad I took a screenwriting class in college, for many reasons.
